*Gulp* The South Is Rising
If anyone has high moral standards it’s North Carolina, a former slave state credited as the last to secede from the Union in 1861. Now, lawmakers there are trying to re-inject such lofty values back into the godless world of gaming by making it illegal to sell “sexually explicit” and “graphically violent” games to minors:
The bill’s sponsor responded by soliciting testimony from a Harvard University professor on the media who said studies show the blood and gore kids encounter in see on the games can contribute to real-world violent behavior and poor health. “We’ve established means for ensuring the safety of what we feed our children’s bodies,” Dr. Michael Rich told the Senate Commerce Committee. “We need similar measures to ensure the safety of what we feed their minds.”
Aren’t there bigger problems in North Carolina that need attention? Like the epidemic of people taking their shirts off, twisting them ’round their hands and spinning them like helicopters? Gross.
