Accolades, Strong Sales of Infinity Blade II Further Propel Blockbuster Game Franchise
CARY, N.C. and SALT LAKE CITY (January 5, 2012) – Epic Games, Inc. and its award-winning Salt Lake City-based development studio, ChAIR Entertainment, today announced that earnings from ChAIR’s blockbuster Infinity Blade video game franchise have eclipsed $30 million in just one year since the introduction of the original game. One of the most popular gaming franchises to be launched on the App Store, the award-winning series has also created significant licensing interest in the underlying Unreal Engine 3 technology from developers worldwide.
Further fueling franchise momentum is the recent release of Infinity Blade II, which has seen net earnings in excess of $5 million in just one month since release on Dec. 1, 2011, a mark which took the original title three months to achieve. Infinity Blade II is on pace to exceed the record success of the original Infinity Blade game, which has grossed more than $23 million to date. Additional franchise extensions include Infinity Blade: Awakening, a digital novella from best-selling author Brandon Sanderson, Infinity Blade: Original Soundtrack, which features original music from the games, and Infinity Blade FX, a big screen, coin-op version of Infinity Blade now featured in arcades nationwide.
Infinity Blade II was one of the most critically acclaimed games of 2011 and received dozens of accolades, including several perfect scores and Editors Choice awards. IGN scored the game a “Perfect 10” and named it their 2011 Mobile Game of the Year. USA Today awarded Infinity Blade II another perfect score, calling it “A Masterful Mobile Epic.” Infinity Blade II was crowned Game of the Year by Slide to Play and Touch Gen, and named Mobile Game of the Year by GameSpot and G4TV, among others. Infinity Blade II was also named among E! Online’s ‘Top 10 Games of 2011,’ one of the ‘Best Apps of 2011’ by Entertainment Weekly, and was cited by Mashable in its ‘5 Major Trends that Changed Digital Entertainment in 2011’ feature.
“The success of the Infinity Blade franchise is testament to our talented team who is devoted to making games we want to play, all while using Unreal Engine technology to redefine what is expected from games on iOS devices,” Epic Games President Dr. Michael Capps said. “We have so much more in store for players, and will continue to make great content for Apple’s evolving platforms.”
Infinity Blade II is available for download from the App Store (www.itunes.com/appstore) for $6.99 and is a universal app. The game is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPad, iPad 2, iPod touch 3 (16GB+) and iPod touch 4.

Counter Strike is a first-person shooter in which players join either the terrorist team, the counter-terrorist team, or become a spectator. Each team attempts to complete their mission objective and/or eliminate the opposing team. Each round starts with the two teams.A player can choose to play as one of four different default character models. Players are generally given a few seconds before the round begins to prepare and buy equipment, during which they cannot attack or walk/move.They can return to the buy area within a set amount of time to buy more equipment.Once the round has ended, surviving players retain their equipment for use in the next round; players who were killed begin the next round with the basic default starting equipment.Standard monetary bonuses are awarded for winning a round, losing a round, killing an enemy, being the first to instruct a hostage to follow, rescuing a hostage or planting the bomb.Killed players become “spectators” for the duration of the round; they cannot change their names until they spawn (come alive) again, text chat cannot be sent to or received from live players; and voice chat can only be received from live players and not sent to them.Spectators are generally able to watch the rest of the round from multiple selectable views, although some servers disable some of these views to prevent dead players from relaying information about living players to their teammates through alternative media.Cheats, scripts, hacks are also used in this game ,but people found cheating are banned permanently and are not allowed to enter the server again. So play fair,go pro.

STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN (June 30, 2011) – Donya Labs, creators of leading 3D optimization solutions for video games, announce the integration of its state-of-the-art middleware, Simplygon, with Epic Games’ award-winning Unreal Engine 3 (UE3). Donya Labs is the newest addition to Epic Games’ premier Unreal Engine 3 Integrated Partners Program and through its membership maintains code and feature parity for Simplygon in step with the engine as it evolves.
In addition to Unreal Engine 3 licensees having access to the Simplygon integration, users of the Unreal Development Kit (UDK), the free edition of UE3, now can utilize Simplygon via the Unreal Editor. Simplygon’s basic mesh reduction features are available to all UDK users in the June 2011 UDK Beta, and Donya and Epic will work together to integrate the full feature set of Simplygon into Unreal Engine during coming months. UDK developers may use Simplygon’s integrated features for all projects, commercial and non-commercial, as part of Epic’s offer.
Simplygon is used to automatically generate game-ready Level of Detail models (LODs) for a specific pixel resolution by removing as much information as possible without degrading LOD quality for a certain onscreen size. Simplygon uses proprietary 3D reduction methods that retain geometrical LOD integrity and visual quality of LOD switching, producing AutoLODs that can directly be used inside triple-A games.
Unreal Engine 3 leverages Simplygon to provide high-quality mesh reduction without having to leave the Unreal Editor. Developers can quickly simplify meshes, generate LODs, and immediately see the results in their maps.
“Simplygon saves developers hundreds to thousands of hours of manual art adjustment, so we are pleased to extend those benefits to our licensees with its incorporation into Unreal Engine 3,” said Dr. Michael Capps, president of Epic Games. “Simplygon is especially useful for converting high-end PC assets for deployment on mobile devices, which dovetails with Unreal Engine 3’s cross-platform strengths.”
“Epic Games has for long been a key producer of world-class video games and cutting-edge game development technology. Through Unreal Engine 3 and Unreal Development Kit, Epic has further extended its technology to an even broader audience and range of platforms,” said Dr. Max Hamedi, CEO of Donya Labs. “We are very pleased to now be able to help all Unreal Engine developers to “Automagically” optimize any 3D for any platform.”

T3 Entertainment’s free-to-play MMO Hellgate will launch Open Beta Testing for North American and European audiences on June 30th, 2011. The Open Beta will include two new game modes – the PvP Duel Area and the zombie-infested Cow Room.
Duel Area allows players to participate in a player-vs.-player mode. Players may opt to modify game settings and other battle rules while choosing from four possible areas: Abandoned Passage, Black Wall Way, Forgotten Grave, and Passage of Hallucination. In the Duel Area, players enter Death Match mode and must kill members of the opposing team. To aid combatants in the frenzy, Recovery Crystals are available near each team’s base, allowing players to recover HP, MP and shields. The winning team will get PvP points, which may be used to purchase accessories, pets and other items in-game. PvP updates will be posted on Hellgate’s website, where weekly top ten players will be rewarded.
Despite its name, the Cow Room won’t involve our milk-making friends. Instead, it will be crawling with a team of zombies – normal zombies and mummified. While the zombies may appear weak, players must remain vigilant and slay the Cow Room boss and his zombie cronies, all while avoiding a vision-reducing Sandstorm. But in order to enter the Cow Room, players first need to complete a special recipe to create a key. Players that can handle the madness have a chance to gain the newest and rarest Hellgate item drops.
In addition to the two new game modes, Hellgate will celebrate the Open Beta launch with four special events to strengthen the growing Hellgate community. The Guild Reservoir event will encourage teamwork and collaboration as guilds with 30 or more members join together to earn rewards including nano shards or Palladiums on a per member basis. The Daily Supplies event will run for one month and will scatter daily supplies ranging from Resurrection scrolls to Power message abilities around the Greenwich headquarters. Once a day players will have a chance to acquire up to four awesome items.
How can players level up faster? To Level in Hell will challenge players to level up as fast as they can until level 20. The Game Masters will pick 10 lucky entries to win 3,000 TCoins each. Hellgate will be giving away more than ever before with their final event for Open Beta, Level and Be Rewarded, which will bestow special prizes on all players who reach level 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40, and 50. There is truly a special prize waiting for everyone when you enter the Hellgate Open Beta on June 30!

The film has been applauded for Gonyo’s funny, charismatic on screen performance, the

I first mentioned virtual world Next Island in 2009, when I posted about the upcoming beta opp. That was before the press release dateline New York, New York was also my day job. Anyway the game is launching on Friday, and it’s the lead story on Venture Beat today.
After more than 2.5 years in the making, Next Island is quietly launching its ambitious virtual world with a time travel theme.
The brainchild of serial entrepreneur David Post, the new world is now available for people to visit and is getting a once-over from journalists. By January, Post will trumpet the site to consumers at large. The enterprise is a test of whether virtual worlds have a place in the modern landscape of gaming, where most of the excitement revolves around social games such as FarmVille, mobile games such as Angry Birds, or traditional console games and PC online titles such as World of Warcraft.
A handful of virtual worlds that raised tens of millions of dollars have failed this year. The victims include There.com, Vivaty, and Metaplace. But that doesn’t deter Post, who says, “I haven’t seen anything that measures up to the quality of what I wanted to do. We are creating the first 3D virtual world for the mass market.”
